Since we all love to use the holidays as an excuse to munch away on all that delicious food (I'll start working out again in the new year, right?), it may be a good idea to at least try to be just that little bit healthier so that getting motivated next year won't be as much as a drag. Dessert, of course, is the real weakness and culprit, thus making it the perfect place to start.
When the words "healthy" and "dessert" and strung together in the same sentence, people seem to think that the end result won't be anywhere near as delicious, but this recipe proves otherwise. Ricotta is much lower in fat than most other cheeses and is also very low in salt; it's a great alternative to cream cheese, for example, which is high in fat (and what most people would want to use in a dessert like this). The addition of vanilla yogurt also makes this a lot better on your overall health: it provides some great nutritional value, namely, potassium, calcium and vitamin B12.
It's like the cheesecake's healthier, low-fat sister! It's quick and easy to make, tastes delicious, looks beautiful and is sure to be a hit at any Christmas dinner.
