5 Adorable Ways to Repurpose Old Dressers Into Dollhouses

Every little girl loves dollhouses. Unfortunately for us parents, those aren't the least expensive toys, especially for really large ones. On a good note, I've found a list of 6 great ways that you can build your own dollhouses, and the great part is they're re-purposed from dressers and other furniture so there's actually very little building involved.

Whether your little girl wants a traditional Victorian house or prefers a castle, there's a dollhouse in this collection that she will love. You can find so many great ways to DIY your own toys for kids! I'm sure you've seen the sensory post. So this collection contains dollhouses that you can literally make from old dressers, drawers, and cabinets. Imagine the look on your little girl's face when you surprise her with one of these. Be sure to also check out the gel ice pack post.

Now, on with the collection. If you have an old dresser, or if you happen to come across a really cheap one at a yard sale or thrift shop, there are a few different ways that you can turn it into your little one's dream dollhouse.

Dresser Dollhouse

So this first one is literally an old dresser turned into a gorgeous dollhouse. The drawer separators make the perfect room dividers, don't you think? You can paint the dresser pink, or whatever color she'll want the house, and then add "wallpaper" and "flooring". I think contact paper would be perfect, especially since it's sticky, so you can use it for both floors and walls if you find it in various different patterns. Also, you can keep the bottom drawer so that you'll have storage for her dolls, clothes, and other smaller items.

Bookshelf Dollhouse

Bookshelf Dollhouse
This one is made from an old bookshelf, and it's adorable. Use the shelf dividers for room dividers, sort of like in the dresser model above. Also, you can craft a roof from plywood or cardboard even, and really give it a homey look. You can normally find these bookshelves at most discount stores for under $20, so this is a really cheap house to make, especially if you already have a bookshelf that you can use.

Dresser Drawer Dollhouse

Dresser Drawer Dollhouse
This adorable little house is made from two old dresser drawers that have been attached back to back. If you don't have an entire dresser to work with, this is a great idea. Also, if you're making one dollhouse from the actual dresser, you could use this idea to create a smaller one from the drawers, maybe for outside play. I love the vibrant colors on this one, and the play space is so much larger than some of the others.

Vintage Dollhouse Dresser

Okay, this one is also a dresser, but done a bit differently. It's a little more detailed than some of the others, and may actually take a bit more time to create. You still use an old dresser so you're not spending any more money, but you may need to spend a few more hours. It's gorgeous though, and so worth the extra effort. This one even has a little patio area.

Castle Dollhouse

Castle Dollhouse
So, along the same lines as the above dresser dollhouse, comes this amazing castle. What little girl wouldn't absolutely love having her own castle? I love the ingenuity and creativeness of this one. You basically build your dollhouse however you're going to build it from the dresser or even a bookshelf, and then take the time to dress it up like a castle. This is by far my favorite in the collection. I mean, who doesn't want a happily ever after?
