How to Make Your Own Giant Christmas Ornaments

How to Make Your Own Giant Christmas Ornaments {Easy video tutorial}
What kind of Christmas decorations do you have planned this year? Originally I was thinking that I would just do the usual strings of lights. I love Christmas lights, but let’s face it—they only look exciting at night. During the day, they really don’t give you a whole lot to look at. I wanted to do something really colorful this year that would put great during the daytime. And then I found this awesome video:

Video Instructions:

These giant Christmas ornaments are really easy to make. Here are the materials you need:

  • Large plastic ball
  • Pint-size deli container
  • Coat hanger
  • Waterproof silicone glue
  • Spray paint
  • Garden hook
  • Art knife

The total cost to make one of these giant Christmas ornaments is only $20. And remember, a number of these supplies can be used to make more than one ornament. So the additional cost is really just the price of additional plastic balls and containers, garden hooks, and coat hangers. And most of us have this stuff lying around anyway.

So how do you do it? It’s really quite easy. All you have to do is cut slits in your deli container and push the coat hanger through it, making a loop. You are going to want to spray paint the container with metallic paint. That's the top of the ornament. Now all you have to do to secure it to the large plastic ball using the waterproof silicone glue. This glue has the advantage of being relatively weatherproof.

Watch the video, and you will be on your way to making these whimsical giant Christmas ornaments in no time. Mine are already getting a lot of great comments and compliments, and I know yours will too. So enjoy, and happy holidays!
