When do you get started on your vegetable garden each spring? I used to wait until it was time to plant, but we have a short growing season where I live. That means I don't get nearly the yield that I'm hoping for. So recently I have switched to trying to plant early. Putting things directly in the ground never works though, because a late frost comes and kills them.
Recently though I found a video that taught me how I could start potatoes in … of all things, a trash bin with some holes punched in it. Now I've found the follow-up video which teaches you how you can harvest your potatoes from the trash bin when they are ready.
Bin Potato Planting
Bin Potato Harvesting
This really looks like a remarkable gardening hack. Obviously I won't get a chance to give it a try until next year, but I am definitely going to do it! I actually have an old trash bin already, so I should be all set to go. And now that I've seen the harvesting video, I have proof that this method works. The potatoes look really awesome too, pretty substantial. Some of them are a bit funny-looking, but that happens when you grow your own food.
As with the other video, this one includes a whole lot of great, detailed information. So be sure that you watch (and listen!) to the entire thing and take notes. I learned a lot from both videos, and can't wait to check out the rest of her channel!

P.S potato seeds make a difference, but anything you plant will bring you tons of fun! Check out this enormous harvest!
