How to Escape Industrial-Strength Zip Ties {Video}

How to Escape Industrial-Strength Zip Ties {Video}
Industrial-strength zip ties are probably one of the most obnoxious forms of packaging ever invented. I know that zip ties are handy, but they are also nearly impossible to get off of new products when you are opening them. Even cutting them with scissors requires a remarkable amount of force.

Most of us have tried to break them without scissors at some point simply to see if it was possible. If you're like me, you eventually determined that it probably wasn't.

Well, I was wrong!

Maybe at some point while messing around with zip ties you wondered whether you could ever escape from them if someone used them to tie you up. As this video proves, you actually can:

It's easier (apparently) than you would think. I haven't tried this yet myself, but you simply raise your tied wrists all the way above your head, and then slam the tie down on your leg. As you can see in the video, it snaps right off. You can do the same thing with tape (featured earlier in the video).

I guess there are a couple of lessons here. Well, maybe several.

1-If someone ties you up with zip ties, you can get out of them fairly easily.
2-If you are really furious at the product packaging you are struggling to open, you can just slam it down over your leg and the zip ties will break without the need for scissors. Of course, you will probably damage your product in the process.
3-If for whatever reason you are tying someone's wrists with zip ties, be sure to also secure their arms to something so that they won't slam their wrists down over their legs and escape. Close those loopholes!

A more detailed guide featuring other methods.

Whatever you do with it, it's a fun video and a fun fact!
