How to Make a Warm, Cozy Cupcake Afghan Any Baby Will Love

I do love knitting and crochet projects. Earlier this year I made this amazing crocheted peacock feather blanket, and previously I shared 30 different easy knitting and crochet projects with you. Now I want to share something extra special with you, a pattern for a soft, cozy, warm afghan which is perfect for a baby!

This project is called the "Cupcake Afghan." You can see how it got its name—the light pastel layers of green and pink look like the delicate shades you would find in the icing of a cupcake. These soothing colors and the warm design make it perfect for swaddling. If you look really closely at the stitches too, you can see that they look a bit like tiny cupcakes.

How do you make it? Click the link below to view a full tutorial:

And don't forget, even though the Cupcake Afghan was designed with babies in mind, you can always make a larger version for a toddler, or a much larger version for an adult. This is a versatile pattern, and it makes an excellent full-size throw for any bed or chair. You can of course use any colors you want for the stripes, though the pastel hues really are a perfect complement to the delicate look and feel of the afghan.
