So many times on Saturday or Sunday afternoons, I start getting that itch to work on a DIY project—but I don't necessarily want to do anything huge or complicated, and I don't want to spend a lot of money purchasing craft supplies. I just want to do something simple, quick and fun, and I want to keep things cheap.
I really have gotten into dollar store crafts over the past year. I made a lot of cool frugal Halloween decorations like these, and then followed that up with dollar store Christmas decorations. But I don't always want to do something with a holiday theme! We also covered a gigantic Dollar Store decorating round-up featuring over 150 projects to organize your home.
The other weekend I wanted to find a project which I could do to beautify any space—and I ended up finding several, all in the same video on YouTube. Any one of these is fast and easy, and of course the supplies can be purchased at the dollar store. It doesn't get more convenient.
These projects are all awesome and delightfully simple, but my favorite one by far is the cactus planter made out of the cheap picture frames. Put together, they form a simple, elegant planter with a cool contemporary look. I would just have assumed it was store-bought if I didn't know better! I actually think these would be awesome not just to decorate my own place, but also to make as gifts for other people. Enjoy the video, and have fun making your own cheap DIY crafts!
