Fed Up With Your Grimy Stove? Here’s an Easy Way to Deep Clean the Grates

Fed Up With Your Grimy Stove? Here's an Easy Way to Deep Clean the Grates..
When it comes to cleaning your stove—and more specifically, your stove grates—the very best tactic is to get cleaning immediately after use. That's in a perfect world, of course, but in reality, we all lead pretty hectic lives. After a busy day at work, followed by grocery shopping and cooking, it's understandable that the last thing on our "Want to Do" list is cleaning. I'd much rather get comfy on the couch with a glass of wine and enjoy my favorite series.

So what happens when you leave it a bit too long? All that food and grease really gets stuck on there, and with each time that you use the stove after that, it just burns and gets even more impossible to remove. When all the elbow-grease and cleaner in the world just doesn't seem to help, use this handy trick instead to save yourself some frustration, time and cursing at an inanimate object.

All you need to do is place your stove grate in a large Ziploc bag, put some ammonia in a spray bottle, and spray the grate generously. Seal the bag and move it around a bit so that the ammonia really gets everywhere. Then you simply place it upside-down and forget about it until the next morning. When you take it out the next day, you'll be surprised to see how little effort you need to put in to scrub that black stuff off; a few wipes here and there and your grate will be looking good as new.

Take Note: When ammonia comes into contact with oxygen it turns into a gas that can be very harmful when inhaled; keep yourself safe by wearing rubber gloves and doing the spraying outside or in a properly ventilated area. And make sure that Ziploc bag is sealed properly so that the gas doesn't escape.
