Don't you just love those gel candles? You know the ones that you don't actually burn but they smell great. You get to enjoy a great scent without having to actually light a candle so they are a bit safer than traditional candles.
We have a great DIY recipe for you to make your own gel air fresheners and if you keep a lid on them when you are not using them, the scent will last for a few weeks.
You need to bring ½ cup of water to a steady boil. Once boiling, add 1 package of gelatin mix and stir well to dissolve. Add another ½ cup of cool water and stir well again. Now add 1/8 teaspoon of vodka and about ½ teaspoon of an essential oil of your choosing and stir until well mixed.
Pour this liquid into a glass jar to allow the candle to set. You can now enjoy your own gel candle in your favorite scent. These are great for traveling and again, if you keep a lid on them when you are not using them the scent will last a long, long time.
