I've always been fond of baskets because they're usually quite pretty and they're rather versatile. You can use them for neat storage of all your yarns, other craft supplies, toys or blankets (which looks so much better than plastic containers!) or you can use them carry stuff to the beach or as actual picnic baskets. In my world, there is always a use for yet another basket.
If you have a friend's birthday coming up and aren't quite sure what to get then this basket can also make an excellent present, and you can give it your own little personalized twist with different colored yarn, or even make it multicolored. If you're still on the crochet train after making this basket, have a look at some of our other easy crochet and knitting patterns, or if you need some more homemade gift ideas, perhaps you'll find something in our master collection of 100 DIY gifts.
I found a pattern for this beautiful basket that I simply had to share along. It has an oval base and rounded rectangular corners, but please don't get hung up on perfect corners. If you find yourself having some trouble, just browse through the comments – you're likely to find some help there.
This exact pattern resulted in a basket size of 22x24x17cm (that's about 8.6×9.5×6.7in). So the supplies you will need are:
- Rope
– 38m long (125ft) and 6mm (0.2in) - Stash yarn
- 5mm (H-8) crochet hook
