Stretch Your Legs and Get Comfy: 10 Easy DIY Hammocks for You to Enjoy this Summer

Stretch Your Legs and Get Comfy: 10 Easy DIY Hammocks for You to Enjoy this Summer
I still remember my childhood summer days spent either relaxing comfortably in a hammock in our garden, or fighting off my siblings for the hammock. There's something just so peaceful and tranquil about hanging there – I'd lie there and read a book, listen to music on my Walkman (well that makes me feel old!), take a nap, snack on some ice cream or sorbet to cool down, or just enjoy the outdoors and my thoughts.

Now that I've grown up and have my own place I haven't experienced that calming, leisurely satisfaction for quite some time, and I think I deserve that again! Especially since life has become a lot more stressful than when I was a little kid. I'm planning on making my own hammock as opposed to dishing out the hard-earned cash… and so should you! Here are some helpful tutorials to help us on our way.

This is by far one of the easiest DIY hammock projects I've ever seen; it's like an instant hammock that's perfect for camping. This tutorial uses a bed sheet, but if you want something a bit more permanent I suggest a stronger fabric.

I love the idea of little reading spots or corners where you can really get engrossed in your book without any distractions, and this hammock chair provides the ideal arrangement for this purpose. It's perfect for both adults and kids, so you may end up having to make more than one so that the family doesn't start fighting over it!

This hammock chair is fair bit bigger than the previous one and it takes a bit more constructing, too, but doesn't it just look so very comfortable? I can easily picture myself spending lazy summer days out there. , sipping on a refreshing cocktail to beat the heat.

Here's another very simple method for making your own outdoor hammock that really doesn't require any hard work; all you need is the fabric, webbing, thread and two climbing carabiners. As the tutorial suggest, get yourself a cute little side table so that there really is no reason to get up from your relaxing comfort.

Baby Hammock Swing

Babies may also love the feeling of hanging on a piece of canvas in the lovely outdoors, but a regular hammock may not be the safest of places for them just yet. Well, instead of spending too much on a baby-safe hammock swing that won't be used for all that long, just follow these instructions and make your own!

If you aren't blessed with the two strong trees that are the perfect distance from each other you can always make your own stand for a fraction of the price. This one only cost about $40 to make! It may seem like quite a daunting task, but the tutorial will guide you through it every step of the way.

This easy-to-make hammock can be done in a matter of hours, so there's really no excuse not to make it. It's affordable, easy, straightforward and quick! What I really love about this one is the addition of the trim to the edges – it's such a small, simple touch that really takes a plain hammock from drab to fab.

Trampoline Bed Hammock

Okay, so I realize that this is more of a swinging bed than a hammock by definition, but I simply had to include this because it's just so innovative and beautiful. So if your kids have outgrown the trampoline, you can repurpose it into this relaxing wonder.
