DIY Fix for Removing Sweat Stains from Clothing

DIY Fix for Removing Sweat Stains from Clothing

Most of us simply throw out those old t-shirts that have sweat stains under the arms. After all, nothing removes the stains, right? Wrong – There are a few simply DIY tricks that you can use to remove those stains, provided you catch them relatively quickly.

One method is to simply take a couple of Alka Seltzer tablets and dissolve them in warm water. Use a bowl large enough that you can fit that favorite shirt and once the tablets have dissolved, just drop the shirt in for about 15 or 20 minutes and the stains will disappear.

You need to presoak the shirt before you wash it. As a general rule, once you run a stained garment through the dryer, the stain is much more difficult to remove. Try this fix before you wash your shirts and it will prevent those stains from setting in and ruining that favorite t-shirt.

The second DIY sweat stain fix involves white vinegar. Simply cover the stained area with white vinegar rub it properly, then apply 1/4 part water, 3/4 part baking soda directly to the stain. Wait a few hours or overnight and wash your clothes as usual but add an extra 1/2 cup of baking soda.
