Cheap and Easy to Make DIY Windshield Washer Fluid

Cheap and Easy to Make DIY Windshield Washer Fluid

Keeping your windshield clean while you are driving is essential and unfortunately there are many things that can gum up the works so to speak. Mud, bugs and other debris can accumulate on your windshield and cause residue that is hard to see through.

While you can always run to the store and buy windshield washer fluid, isn't making your own a much better idea? We think so, which is why we found a great recipe for you that lets you make your own.

To make your own washer fluid, you just need to mix a gallon of water with 1 tablespoon of dish washing liquid and ½ cup of ammonia (for anti freeze or vinegar. You can also add a few drops of food coloring so that you know what the liquid is for.

Just mix this up in a gallon sized jug and fill your reservoir whenever needed to keep your windshield clean and sparkly.

There are other recipes that do not contain vinegar. You can also mix about 16 ounces of rubbing alcohol with 1 tablespoon of dish soap and enough water to fill a gallon jug. This works well too. Or, you can substitute vodka for the rubbing alcohol and instead of dish soap, use liquid castile soap.
