Kids’ Craft: Turn those Empty Plastic Eggs into Light-Up Fireflies in No Time

Once the Easter craze has worn off you're going to be sitting with a lot of Easter-themed trash and leftovers that may seem pretty useless; more specifically, those plastic Easter eggs. I really don't like plastic because it has such a terrible impact on the environment, so I'm really quick to jump on the chance repurpose anything plastic… so here's how to reuse your plastic eggs once the chocolate-filled holiday has come and gone: turn them into fireflies!

This is a fun little craft to do with the kids – you just stick a LED tealight into the egg, and then, with the help from the kids, add all the little odds and ends to make it look like a little bug. You'll probably have most of the supplied laying around in your craft box anyway, so you won't have to actually go out to buy anything: silver duct tape for the wings, white labels (or paint) for the eyes, pipe cleaners for the legs and antennae, and a thumbtack or needle to poke holes so that you can insert the pipes cleaners.
