These dainty lanterns can be put outside as welcoming lights, around the table for a special dinner occasion, or as one commentator mentioned, even at your wedding! They look rather finicky and complicated, but once you grasp the project and actually get started, you'll realize they're not quite as difficult to make as you had initially thought. You also don't need that many supplies; if you're a crafter you'll already have most of them, and if not, your purchases will still be cheap – just make sure you get the right thickness of paper so that they'll be durable.
We found these incredibly beautiful three-dimensional DIY lanterns that you wouldn’t believe are made out of paper (and by hand!).
The brainy creative behind these exquisite pieces used a nifty little machine to cut out the shapes, but you really don't have to rush out to buy one; an X-acto knife (or craft knife) and a steady hand will do! She's also been kind enough to put up her templates that you can download (for FREE!), so you don't have to try to draw all those delicate flowers if you're not all that artistically inclined.
Maybe once you get the hang of it you can actually start to design your own patterns. You can even experiment with different colors and paper types – this little project is sure to get the creative juices flowing!
