How to DIY Colorful Rainbow Roses Step by Step Video Instructions

How to DIY Colorful Rainbow Roses Step by Step Video Instructions! Unique diy project,

How often has it happened that you have a specific event or occasion that you want to get flowers for but can't find the perfect array of colors to suit the theme? Sadly, for us, it's happened too many times, and it can be rather frustrating to have to settle with second best. So, working with white roses as your template, we'll show you how you can turn them to any color your heart desires! Of course, you can use this food coloring technique with practically any white flower (like daisies or carnations), but roses are our favorite.

Top Tips:

The flowers need to be fresh; if they're limp or wilted then they may not absorb the water and coloring quite as well.

Making a slated cut in the stem is very important since it prevents the stem from sitting flat at the bottom of the glass which could stop it from taking in the water.

If you want to make it really fancy and have more than one color in a single flower, split the bottom half of the stem so that you have as many segments as you want colors. Then position the flower so that each segment sits in its own glass of food coloring – a bit of tape may help here to ensure that the flower remains upright. After about 24 hours you'll end up with a rainbow rose instead of a rainbow bunch!

Stunningly Beautiful Hair Tutorial: Mermaid Half Braid

Stunningly Beautiful Hair Tutorial: Mermaid Half Braid

Ask a girl with long hair what she hates most about it and she'll be able to ramble off a whole list: it tangles easily, it clogs up the drain, loose hairs carpet your floors, it takes forever to dry, you use so much more product (and thus, spend more), it constantly feels as if a bug is crawling down your back or arm when it's actually just a stray hair… Yeah, the list is endless. Nevertheless, we love our long hair, despite all the hell it causes us. Why? Because it looks pretty (that in itself is reason enough) and because of all the fun hairstyles we get to experiment with! One of which is the mermaid half braid.

We love this style for so many reasons: it's soft, it's elegant, it's pretty easy to do, and it makes people go "wow!" The video tutorial is really helpful and will help ensure that you get it done perfectly every time.

Deliciously Healthy Low-Fat Yogurt and Strawberry Dessert Recipe – Perfect for Christmas

This is such an easy recipe!! Deliciously Healthy Low-Fat Yogurt and Strawberry Dessert Recipe - Perfect for Christmas

Since we all love to use the holidays as an excuse to munch away on all that delicious food (I'll start working out again in the new year, right?), it may be a good idea to at least try to be just that little bit healthier so that getting motivated next year won't be as much as a drag. Dessert, of course, is the real weakness and culprit, thus making it the perfect place to start.

When the words "healthy" and "dessert" and strung together in the same sentence, people seem to think that the end result won't be anywhere near as delicious, but this recipe proves otherwise. Ricotta is much lower in fat than most other cheeses and is also very low in salt; it's a great alternative to cream cheese, for example, which is high in fat (and what most people would want to use in a dessert like this). The addition of vanilla yogurt also makes this a lot better on your overall health: it provides some great nutritional value, namely, potassium, calcium and vitamin B12.
It's like the cheesecake's healthier, low-fat sister! It's quick and easy to make, tastes delicious, looks beautiful and is sure to be a hit at any Christmas dinner.

Recycling at its Finest: How to Build a Magnificent Milk Jug Igloo

As winter descends upon us, we should know by now that resisting the cold weather is futile. Instead of cursing the season, why not embrace it? Christmas and all its associated crafts are, undoubtedly, the best part about winter, but the secoRecycling at its Finest: How to Build a Magnificent Milk Jug Igloo, Creative and easy project to entertain kids.
nd coolest Christmas craft I've managed to find is this igloo made completely out of empty milk jugs.

The one in the video required over 250 jugs to build. No matter how much tea and coffee you drink to keep warm, there's just no way that you'll be able to save these up by yourself, so appeal to your neighbors and your community to help save up. There's also a fantastic website called Freecycle where you can simply input your area and ask members to keep and give you their milk jugs – this should speed up the process considerably.

Apart from looking really awesome and providing an awesome reading corner or play fort for kids, this grand construction also offers the opportunity for education. It's a chance to teach kids about the environment and recycling, and about how much damage wasted plastic actually causes to our beautiful earth. It's also a great time to teach them a bit more about Inuit history and culture.

Take note: Make sure to wash all the jugs properly with bleach so that the old milk doesn't stink you out!

Mind Blowing Food Hack: No-Whisk 3 Minute Microwave Meringues

WOW!! Mind Blowing Food Hack: No-Whisk 3 Minute Microwave Meringues
Meringues can be tricky to make; with all the whisking involved, it just feels like too much of an effort. For me, they usually take even longer than they should because I always seem to mess up the first batch. So after trawling the internet for some help on the subject, I found the perfect meringue hack that shows you how to make meringues in just a couple of minutes… in the microwave! If you're one of the lucky few who can actually whip up the perfect meringue in the traditional way, keep this method in your back pocket for one of those days where you've overestimated your time management skills and need to make a quick dessert.

The time in the microwave will depend on your microwave wattage and how soft or crispy you like your meringues. I suggest you let it cook for one minute, test it out, and take it from there. You could also adapt the meringue size and cooking time for larger meringue to use as a Pavlova base.

You can thank me later.

Delicious Food Art: How to Create Yummy Apple Swan

Delicious Food Art: How to Create Yummy Apple Swan (Kids will love these)
Want to really impress the heck out of your guests at a party?  Instead of serving up apples in a fruit bowl (boring!), make decorative, edible swans out of apples!  Learn how in a brief but thorough video tutorial by Grant Thompson on YouTube, "The King of Random."

There are a number of steps involved in making the right cuts, so you will probably want to watch the video once, then get your apple, and sit down and watch it again and follow along step-by-step.  Be sure to hang on to the apple seeds, because they are going to be your swan's eyes.  The result if you follow through properly and do everything right is a surprisingly sleek and graceful looking swan made out of apple bits.  It's really amazing what you can do with food!

Apples have a tendency to turn brown quickly after you cut them.  Prevent that by squeezing a little lemon juice onto your sliced apple bits as you go (a pastry brush works well to apply it), or you can use Fruit-Fresh.  You could also try blanching them.  That way your apple swans will stay presentable!

8 Heavenly Cakes and Desserts in Jars That Won’t Let You Down

8 Heavenly Cakes and Desserts in Jars That Won't Let You Down
If you've been searching for a foodie gift that is not only quick and easy to make, but also fun, fresh and, of course, delicious, then search no more! I've found just the thing: cake in a jar! You mix your regular cake ingredients in the jar along with some tasty fruit/berries (this is a good opportunity for you to use those fruit that may be nearing the over-ripe stage), pop it in the oven for about an hour, and pull out a perfectly baked cobbler-style cake in a jar! Apart from being a novel gift, this is also a great idea for picnic outings; just don't forget to bring along the whipped cream.

How to Bake Cakes in a Jar

Quick tip: Use fresh fruit and not frozen fruit as part of your recipe. Commenter Andrea Renaye on YouTube points out that frozen fruit will bleed liquids as they thaw in the oven, which will mess up the consistency of the recipe.
